Haier HSB03BB Compact 2-2/3-Cubic-Foot Refrigerator/Freezer, Black cubic-foot capacity, this compact refrigerator/freezer keeps food fresh and beverages ice cold. It works great in an office or dorm room, or as a back-up fridge around the holidays when extra space comes in handy. The unit provides two full-width slide-out wire shelves, two full-width door-storage shelves, 2-liter bottle storage, and a half-width freezer compartment with an ice-cube tray. The unit’s adjustable thermostat can be controlled by the rotary temperature-control dial, while its manual-defrost function helps save on energy costs. Thoughtfully designed, the appliance features a recessed door handle, making the unit flat and space saving in the front, and a coil back that works as a condensor to release heat trapped inside the refrigerator. It also provides a quick-cleaning drip tray and two front leveling legs that can be made longer or shorter to balance the unit if it sits on uneven ground. Exactly what I wanted!

The compact fridge came a day early and was up and running in no time. It has plenty of room for the dogs’ cottage cheese and takes up very little space. I buy the cottage cheese when it is on special for $10 for 10 so the fridge is great – the small cartons took up too much room in my “regular” fridge.

I think that the reviewers of this fridge are a bit too hard on the product reviews. I agree that the product packaging is terrible and needs improvement, but that doesn’t mean that the product itself is bad.
I received this item recently and there were a couple of VERY tiny dents on the side. So tiny, in fact, that I didn’t see them at first until I looked at the fridge at a certain angle in the light. Other than that, it was in perfect condition. I subtracted a star because of the poor packaging. There is no styrofoam protection and no space between the outer chrdboard and the fridge itself. I believe this contributes to the damage some people are reporting. For me, however, the damage was negligible.
That issue aside, thie fridge works GREAT! It cooled down quickly and is nearly silent. Compare this to my previous thermoelectric fridge, which had a loud fan running constantly. I have this fridge under my desk in the office and it is great in terms of noise.
This morning, I discovered something new. I heard a loud noise of cans moving around. I discovered that one of the soda cans had frozen solid and the bottom of the can had expanded. Luckily the can itself did not burst. I had the fridge on its maximum setting, but clearly that is too cold. So, now I haveturned it down two notches and we’ll see if that works better. So, one could say that the product works TOO WELL. On the maximum setting, it is cold enough to freeze items in the fridge compartment!
All told, I am very happy with this product so far!
Great Fridge, Bad Packaging

I knew there would be nicks from reading everyone else’s reviews, but they are not noticeable. There are about 3 small dents that you can only see by squinting (which no one does).
This fridge is a great buy; I currently use it for my dorm room. It is very quiet; I slept with it near my bed for 2 weeks, and it never woke me up.
I only need to put the cool setting on 4 or 5, and everything stays very cool.
It has two shelves on the door, which is great for someone who does not need the soda compartment present in other fridge versions, plus the door’s bottom shelf expands an extra inch for larger containers (like a quart of milk). The bottom shelf can hold 3 half-gallons of milk at a time. This is great for me because I don’t drink soda, but I love juice carafes and milk!
The one reason I did not put 5 stars is because there have been times where items I put in block the door, and the magnetic seal on the fridge is not strong enough to close again. This causes the freezer to defrost. Fortunately, this fridge comes with a shelf that catches any water drips. Yet, this is very minor, compared to the simple compact and quiet design.
Poor Customer Service

I have had a bad experience with this company. My refrigerator just stopped working. I emailed them and asked where i should take it for service. It is only 6 months old. They had me to send in the model number and I did. It has been 1 month now and they will not return my emails. I do believe they are dropping me and not taking care of their product. I would stay clear, so sad…pretty refrigerator, but needs to work.

AVOID THIS COMPANY!! My unit arrived broken. Haier customer service was rude & obnoxious. They were completely unapologetic & seemed to go out of their way to be UNHELPFUL. When I finally bullied them into action, they wanted a full week to send out a service man who may or may not have been able to fix it. I spoke to both customer service and corporate, both were extremely rude and entirely useless. What’s more, neither one had the decency to so much as apologize. NEVER AGAIN.
This was every internet buyer’s nightmare!
Arrived damaged, short-lifespan

This item arrived with a big dent in the front door. I decided to keep it, rather than go through the hassle of shipping it back. After one year, it is now DEAD. The compressor is shot and it does not cool. I should have paid more for a better model.
Good unit, horrible packing

This seems to be an attractive and useful fridge, but it arrived in the worst possible packing imaginable for something like this: there was *no* space between the box and the fridge inside, and no packing materials to cushion against shipping damage. In other words, any blows to the box are blows to the fridge. As you can imagine shipping something of this size, some rough handling is guaranteed.
Ours arrived with two really huge dents. Luckily the dents do not impact operation so we probably won’t mess with the hassle of a return. But be aware that getting a unit shipped to you in perfect condition seems really unlikely with this brain-dead packing.

this fridge it a bit too big and bulky, I should have gone with a small size since I am using it for my office.
The fridge arrived pretty banged up. There were a couple of dents in it and it wouldn’t stand up straight until I straightened out a metal piece on the bottom.

got this fridge as a gift.
good working refrigerator/freezer, but i agree on some of the poor reviews about the packaging for shipping. i don’t know if it has to do w/ the free shipping, but mine came w/ small dents and the bottom metal holding the fridge was totally bent.
but since the fridge is working properly i didn’t bother returning it, since i spent money tipping the UPS guy who had to bring it up to the 3rd floor.
i think if Haier package it better with more styrofoam around the edges, that would most likely fix the problem.
as i said, the fridge/freezer works great for my small room.

This product will show up on your doorstep damaged, guaranteed! I ordered one and it arrived damaged due to the lack of packaging. I returned it and it was replaced with another damaged one. I returned this one also, only to receive a third damaged unit. At that point I returned the third one for a refund. I contacted the manufacturer, (I was on hold for about half an hour) who couldn’t care less! If you want to waste your time…order this fridge from Haier.

I read several reviews of other brands similar to this and finally selected this product. It has plenty of room and looks great in the office. As advertised it runs very quite and keeps my items cold and was priced right for me. I have only had it for approximately 3 months but very pleased thus far. Once interesting comment from others was the shipping container and how pathetic it was. Well my little fridge was shipped in the same one I guess and when it arrived the box was opened and did not provide any protection what so ever! The poor little fridge was dinged in the side and on the bottom. I turned the unit over and straightened it out so that it would rest flat on the floor. Haier needs to work on this as I can see other products being damaged more than mine was.

The packing was dismal as in practically non-existent and the refridgerator was damaged (major dents). This was a gift and the recipient of the gift was shocked to see the damage. The recipient decided to keep the fridge as it worked even though it was seriously dented.
